Blue Synergy attends the Final General Assembly of the NewWave Project in Slovenia
Partners of the NewWave Project recently gathered in Izola for the project’s final General Assembly, hosted by InnoRenew CoE. The meeting provided an opportunity for consortium members to review the project’s main achievements, discuss final results, and reflect on the future prospects of the technologies developed over the course of the initiative. Representing Blue Synergy, Sustainability Engineer, Sebastián, Ospina Corral participated in the discussions on project outcomes and next steps.

According to the project coordinators, the initiative is concluding on a very positive note. Most of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have either been fully achieved or are very close to their target values, and all project milestones have already been completed. Throughout the project, several innovative products and solutions were developed, including plywood, MDF and polyurethane foams produced with wood-derived resins and polyols; sustainable chemical intermediates for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries; and wood products achieving Class 2 durability without the use of toxic biocides, enabling safer outdoor applications.

Within the project, Blue Synergy contributed to strengthening the sustainability and market perspectives of the developed technologies. The company supported the consortium through activities including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), Social Impact Analysis (SIA), the development of reuse and recycling strategies, and market and business model analysis.
Reflecting on the meeting, Sebastián Ospina highlighted the value of the collaboration and the progress achieved over the course of the project. He noted that it was an important opportunity to meet partners in person, review the progress made during the past four years, and discuss how the project’s outcomes can continue contributing to the development of sustainable and circular bio-based industries in Europe.
