Blue Synergy celebrated New Wave project’s workshop at the EUBCE 2025

New Wave at EUBCE 2025 – Driving Innovation in Wood Biomass Valorisation

Blue Synergy is thrilled to have celebrated the workshop “Innovative Technologies for Wood Biomass Valorisation: Insights from the New Wave Project” at the EUBCE – European Biomass Conference & Exhibition 2025! 🚀

Organised by Blue Synergy, the parallel event showcased cutting-edge technologies developed within the EU-funded New Wave project, focused on the sustainable valorisation of wood waste and biomass streams.

Topics included:

  • Thermochemical Fractionation of Lignocellulosic Feedstocks
  • FPBO-derived glycols as building blocks for polyurethanes
  • Furan Pathways from Pyrolytic Sugars
  • Comprehensive sustainability assessments revealing strong environmental and economic potential

Regarding that last topic, Sustainability Engineer, Sebastián Ospina Corral, delivered an insightful talk on the sustainability and market viability of the project. Also on site were Social Researcher and Communications Specialist, Julio Morales Daza, and General & Operations Manager, German Cavero Lopez, who ensured smooth logistics and seized networking opportunities to amplify both New Wave and Blue Synergy’s reach.

Additionally, Blue Synergy  congratulates the speakers Bert van de Beld, from BTG Biomass Technology Group BV, David Contus, from AEP Polymers, and Dieter Breukers, from TransFurans Chemicals, for their very interesting talks, which sparked the conversation with the participants.

With technologies designed for both industrial scalability and research impact, the NewWave project is consolidating its impact in Europe’s bio-based transition. Discover more about the project at: https://www.newwave-horizon.eu/
